Binary Translator from Image

This binary translator from image reads binary from a photo or screenshot. It finds the 0s and 1s, lets you correct them, and translates them to text.

Scan binary from an image

Drop a photo or screenshot of binary here, paste one, or pick a file.

Processed in your browser. Images are never uploaded.

How the scanner works

  1. 01

    Add a picture

Press Choose an image, drop a file on the box, paste a screenshot, or tap Use camera on a phone.

  2. 02

    It reads the digits

The image is turned black and white and enlarged, then the reader looks only for 0, 1 and spaces. The first scan downloads the reader, about 7 MB.

  3. 03

    Check and decode

The recognized binary appears in a box you can edit. Fix any wrong digit and the text below updates at once.

Images that work

Any image your browser can open works, such as JPG, PNG or WebP. The best results come from:

  • Screenshots of binary on a website, in a chat or in a game.
  • Photos of printed binary: puzzles, worksheets, posters, T-shirts.
  • Dark mode screenshots with light digits on a dark background.
  • Neat handwriting in clear block digits. Messy or joined-up handwriting often fails, so type those digits instead.

Tips for a clean scan

Most misreads come from the photo, not the digits.

  • Good light. Avoid shadows and glare across the digits.
  • Straight on. Hold the phone parallel to the page so lines of digits stay level.
  • Crop close. Cut away anything that is not binary. Other text and pictures confuse the reader.
  • Check the groups. After the scan, each group should have 8 digits. A group with 7 or 9 usually hides a misread.

Frequently asked questions

Can I scan binary code with my phone camera?

Yes. Tap Use camera to take a photo of the binary, and the scanner reads it right away. You can also choose a photo you already took.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The image is processed in your browser and never uploaded. Only the reader itself downloads from this site, the first time you scan. See the privacy policy.

Why are some 0s and 1s recognized wrong?

Blur, shadows, a tilted photo or a decorative font can make the reader skip a digit, merge two, or read a 0 as a 1. Crop closer, retake the photo in better light, or fix the digit in the editable box. The text updates as you edit.

Does it work with handwritten binary?

Sometimes. Neat, separate block digits on plain paper often read well. Joined-up or messy handwriting usually doesn't. In that case, type the digits into the binary to English translator.
